Baltimore’s kicker has been perfect through the first three games, and the league recognized his performance by naming him the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month Thursday morning.
Tucker has connected on all nine of his field-goal attempts this season, including a 53-yard game-winner in the final minutes against Jacksonville last week. That was the 12th game-winning kick of his career.
“The key to our success – Morgan [Cox], Sam [Koch] and myself – is that we’re able to suppress all of the emotion until after the kick is made,” Tucker said after Sunday’s game. “When we’re firing on all cylinders like we have been as a unit, I don’t think there’s a kick we can’t make.”
The Ravens have leaned heavily on Tucker through three close games to start the year. As the offense has struggled at times to put the ball in the end zone, Tucker has been a valuable weapon. He’s hit three field goals from beyond 50 yards, and four from beyond 40.
This is the third time in Tucker’s career that he has been honored as the AFC’s Special Teams Player of the Month.
