Outside Linebacker Elvis Dumervil Inactive vs. Jaguars

Posted Sep 25, 2016

Rookie left tackle Ronnie Stanley is active after being listed as questionable coming into the weekend.

The Ravens will be without veteran pass rusher Elvis Dumervil for at least another week.

Despite returning to practice this week, the outside linebacker is inactive for Sunday’s matchup with the Jaguars at Everbank Field.

The other scratches are cornerbacks Jerruad Powers and Will Davis, offensive lineman John Urschel, running backs Kenneth Dixon (knee) and Javorius Allen, and defensive tackle Willie Henry. Dumervil and Dixon are the only players inactive because of injuries.

Dumervil, 32, has been working his way back from an offseason “foot-area” procedure. The team activated him from the physically unable to perform list Aug. 22, and he practiced for a few days before having a minor setback.

He then spent three weeks on the sideline before returning to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday and Thursday. He did not practice Friday.

Dumervil expressed optimism this week, telling reporters that he was “shooting for” a return Sunday against the Jaguars. But he is out for another week. That means young linebackers Za’Darius Smith and Matthew Judon will likely get more snaps in his absence.

The only other uncertainty coming into the weekend was on the offensive line, where rookie left tackle Ronnie Stanley was listed as questionable to play because of a foot injury. Stanley was a full participant Thursday and Friday, and he made it clear he had no intention of sitting out Sunday.

“It’s going to take a lot for me to miss a game,” Stanley said.

Center Jeremy Zuttah is also active after missing Friday’s practice for an unspecified reason. Urschel is inactive for the third-straight game, meaning the Ravens are likely going to stick with rookie Alex Lewis as the starting left guard.

For the Jaguars, they will be without starting offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum, cornerback Prince Amukamara and defensive end Chris Smith. Their other inactives are quarterback Brandon Allen, center Brandon Linder, defensive lineman Jared Odrick and tight end Ben Koyack.
