The Ravens added another offensive lineman to their 53-man roster Wednesday, claiming Billy Turner off waivers and releasing linebacker Chris Carter to make room.
Turner was released by the Miami Dolphins Tuesday after he surrendered three sacks and two quarterback hits against the Tennessee Titans in the Dolphins’ Week 5 loss.
Part of that could have been because he was pressed into action out of position. Turner, who was listed on the Dolphins depth chart as a backup right guard, was called on to be the team’s starting left tackle.
Turner is the second right guard the Ravens have added to the roster this week, which may be a bad sign for the health of the Ravens’ line. Right guard 
Turner is a 6-foot-5, 310-pound blocker who was a third-round pick of the Dolphins in 2014. The North Dakota State (same school as Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz) was a two-time FCS All-American. He started 12 games in 2015 and two so far this season.
Carter has been active for each game so far this year, and has made two tackles.
The six-year veteran largely made the 53-man roster because of his special teams skills, but the Ravens have allowed long returns in three straight weeks, including an 85-yard punt return touchdown last week against the Washington Redskins. Carter was on the coverage unit for that play.
