The Ravens have gotten a head start on rebuilding their wide receiver corps.

Though free agency doesn't open for another month, Baltimore officially signed wide receiver DeVier Posey Tuesday morning.

Posey most recently was in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and was named the Grey Cup's Most Valuable Player after posting seven catches for 175 yards, including a record-setting 100-yard touchdown, in the game.

The Toronto Argonauts, who are coached by former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Marc Trestman, released Posey a couple weeks before he was set to become a free agent so he could pursue a return to the NFL.

The Ravens pounced, grabbing the former Ohio State prospect who is looking to show what he can do when given a second chance. Posey, 27, was a high third-round pick (No. 68 overall) of the Houston Texans in 2012.

Posey cracked the offensive rotation late in his rookie season, then scored his first career touchdown in the divisional playoffs against the New England Patriots. Unfortunately, he ruptured his Achilles tendon later in that game.

Posey returned, but never put up big numbers in Houston, finishing his three seasons there with 22 catches for 272 yards. He hasn't played in an NFL regular-season game since 2014.

In 2015, the Texans traded him as part of a package of draft picks to the New York Jets, but Posey didn't make their roster. He got another NFL chance with the Denver Broncos in 2016, but again didn't make the team out of training camp.

That's when Posey jumped to the CFL and the Argonauts. He didn't have a lot of success his first year, but caught 52 passes for 744 yards and seven touchdowns last season. He can also return punts and kickoffs.

Posey stands in at 6-foot-1, 210 pounds. He'll join a wide receiver corps that could get a makeover this offseason, providing ample opportunity for Posey to make an impression.

Just Friday, Owner Steve Bisciotti talked about adding more weapons for Joe Flacco. This expects to be just the beginning of much more to come.
