Timetable Unknown For Arthur Jones' Return

The Ravens have ruled Arthur Jones out for this week's game against the Denver Broncos because of a personal health issue, and the defensive lineman's status moving forward is uncertain.

Head Coach John Harbaugh did not provide the specifics about the issue, but said that it will force Jones to miss some time.

"I'd rather leave an explanation of Art's situation up to Art," Harbaugh said. "It's not anything that's life-threatening, or anything like that. But it's not football related. We just have to get some tests done on it to make sure he's OK. And until the tests come out the right way, then he's not going to be able to play."

The timetable for Jones to return is currently up in the air.

"They can't tell you how long it will be," Harbaugh said. "It could be a week, it could be indefinitely. We don't think it's going to be the second part, but he's going to see a specialist here Wednesday."

Jones tweeted about the issue Tuesday afternoon.

"As many of you know i'm having personal health issues," Jones wrote. "Please respect my privacy. We as athletes go through real life problems also. Thank You all for your love and support. Ravens fans are the best!! See you all on the field soon!!! : ) #Onelove."

Jones was expected to be the starting defensive end for the Ravens, but now they will likely turn to veteran Marcus Spears, whom the Ravens signed in the offseason. Spears can play defensive end and defensive tackle, and he has been a starter for the Giants and Cowboys throughout his career.

Spears dealt with a hamstring injury in training camp but is now at full strength.

"Marcus has been around, he's in great shape, he's practiced well since he got over the hamstring," Harbaugh said. "He really looks good and he's ready to go."
