2018 Ravens Mock Draft Monitor 5.0

02_MockDraftMonitor_news.jpg

Free agency has changed the landscape in terms of Baltimore's most pressing needs.

The Ravens filled some holes at wide receiver by signing Michael Crabtree and Smokey Brown, but new needs have emerged. Center Ryan Jensen left via free agency and the Ravens opted not to exercise the 2018 option on right tackle Austin Howard's contract.

Baltimore could still draft pieces at receiver, pass-catching tight end, right tackle, center, inside linebacker or another wild-card position.

Below are draftniks' latest projections, which have all been released since the start of free agency:

Mel Kiper, ESPN
OT Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame
Senior; 6-foot-8, 315 pounds
"McGlinchey is a plug-and-play right tackle who would be playing on the same line as his college teammate Ronnie Stanley. McGlinchey played on the right side for Notre Dame two years ago, and he was dominant. Then he took Stanley's spot at left tackle – and was dominant. This move also would allow Baltimore to keep Alex Lewis at guard instead of trying him at right tackle. Lewis also could move to center to replace Ryan Jensen."

Peter Schrager, NFL Network
WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama2017: 63 receptions, 967 yards, 5 touchdowns
*Junior; 6-foot-1, 190 pounds
*"If this is in fact Ozzie Newsome's last year running the Ravens' draft, the best Alabama receiver since Amari Cooper is a strong bet to come off the board at No. 16. I know the Ravens added Michael Crabtree. I don't think they're done with improving the strength of the position."

Lance Zierlein, NFL Network
OT Kolton Miller, UCLAJunior; 6-foot-9, 310 pounds"With the Ravens adding enough talent at WR in free agency to pass on that position in the first round, GM Ozzie Newsome grabs a tackle for the right side of the line."

Bucky Brooks, NFL Network OT Orlando Brown, OklahomaSenior; 6-foot-8, 345 pounds "Despite a historically poor performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, Brown comes off the board as a first-round selection for his late father's former team as Ozzie Newsome values film study over workout numbers."

R.J. White, CBS Sports
LB Tremaine Edmunds, Virginia TechJunior; 6-foot-5, 236 pounds
2017: 108 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 2 passes defensed, 3 forced fumbles
"The Ravens get a great value here in Edmunds, who doesn't turn 20 until after the draft and has as much upside as any prospect this year. He's scheme versatile and should be an interesting chess piece for the Ravens defense, someone who can line up next to C.J. Mosley inside or potentially be groomed to take over for Terrell Suggs down the road."

Jared Dubin, CBS Sports
WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama
"Baltimore signed John Brown and Michael Crabtree, but their wide receiver depth chart is still ugly – especially considering Brown's incessant injury issues. Flooding the market at one position in hopes of hitting big once or twice worked for the Eagles last year, and it could work for the Ravens as well. Ridley didn't test all that well at the combine, but he was incredibly successful at Alabama and could step in and produce right away for an offense that needs so much help at such an important position."
Matt Miller, Bleacher Report
WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama
"Here's one that seems to show up in every mock draft I do. Calvin Ridley makes too much sense for the Baltimore Ravens. Even if you ignore the obvious Alabama connections to general manager and Crimson Tide alum Ozzie Newsome, Ridley still fills the team's most obvious need: receiver. Even after adding veteran Michael Crabtree and the explosive but oft-injured John Brown, the Ravens' wide receiver depth chart is bare and lacking in long-term answers. Ridley's smooth route running and natural ability as a catcher will make him a perfect possession-style receiver to pair with Brown's deep speed in the short to intermediate game."

Vinnie Iyer, Sporting News
OLB Marcus Davenport, Texas-San Antonio
*Senior; 6-foot-6, 264 pounds
*2017: 55 tackles, 17.5 for loss, 8.5 sacks, 3 forced fumbles
"The Ravens will be thinking about wide receiver and offensive line with this pick, but like Packers, they could use some rebooting in their 3-4 with Wink Martindale taking over the scheme and Terrell Suggs turning 36 in October. Davenport can turn into a Suggs-like dynamo while learning from the veteran in a situational role at first."

Dan Kadar, SB Nation
OT Mike McGlinchey, Notre Dame
"The preference for Baltimore would probably be to see Ridley still available with this choice. If he's not, Baltimore could be choosing between Maryland wide receiver D.J. Moore and whomever they view as being the top offensive tackle in the draft. McGlinchey is a nice fit because he has experience on the right side, and he's ready to start as a rookie."

Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama"Despite using multiple draft picks and investing in free agents, the Ravens' receiving corps essentially remains a black hole for production with Baltimore ranking last (and by a significant margin) with just 5.7 yards per passing attempt in 2017. Filling a position of need with one last pick from his alma mater might be the perfect send-off for retiring General Manager Ozzie Newsome."

Dane Brugler, The Sports Xchange C James Daniels, Iowa Junior, 6-foot-3, 295 pounds "With Ryan Jensen signing a lucrative deal with the Buccaneers, the Ravens' center position is a question mark. Matt Skura likely gets first crack at the job, but Daniels would be an upgrade at the position and provide immediate interior line depth."
