The Ravens released linebacker Daryl Smith on March 3, allowing him to “see his market value at this time,” according to General Manager Ozzie Newsome.
Newsome left the door open for Smith to return to Baltimore, but that was up in the air.
It didn’t take Smith long to find a suitor, as he has agreed to terms with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday night. It’s a one-year deal, according to multiple reports.
Smith spent three seasons in Baltimore, helping the franchise transition after the retirement of Ray Lewis. Smith quietly and unceremoniously did so.
He led the Ravens in tackles in two of his three seasons, including last year (121 tackles). Smith’s best season in Baltimore was his first, when he recorded 123 tackles, five sacks, 18 passes defensed and three interceptions.
Smith began to have trouble in pass coverage last season, and was eventually taken off the field in passing situations in favor of 
Smith started every single game while in Baltimore, including 48 regular-season games and two in the postseason. He was a very highly respected player in the locker room and on the field.
