The Ravens won't see Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr for Sunday's matchup in the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.
Carr's status was a bit of a mystery coming into the weekend, but he is officially inactive. The Raiders will start veteran EJ Manuel in his place.
Raiders Head Coach Jack Del Rio initially announced on Monday that Carr would miss two-to-six weeks because of a back fracture, but the franchise quarterback surprisingly returned to practice on Thursday. Carr was then listed as questionable on the final injury report, and reports from several outlets said that the quarterback was pushing the Raiders to let him play.
Carr did some jogging and threw several passes during pre-game warmups, but the Raiders ultimately determined that he wasn't ready to play.
While Carr is out, the Ravens are dealing with injury concerns of their own. The most notable is that starting defensive tackle Brandon Williams is out for his third-straight game because of a foot injury. Tight end Maxx Williams will also miss his third-straight game because of an ankle injury.
The other inactives for the Ravens are wide receiver Chris Moore, offensive linemen Tony Bergstrom and Diegot Joseph, cornerback Jaylen Hill and defensive end Bronson Kaufusi. Hill returned to practice this week after missing the first month of the season with a hamstring issue, but he'll have to wait a little longer before making his NFL debut.
Rookie defensive end Chris Wormley will make his NFL debut Sunday. He's been a healthy scratch the first four games of the season, but the Ravens decided to give him the start over second-year lineman Bronson Kaufusi.
Starting cornerback Jimmy Smith (Achilles), tight end Benjamin Watson (calf) and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin (hand) are all active after being listed as questionable on the injury report.
The other inactives for Oakland are cornerbacks David Amerson and Gareon Conley, guard Gabe Jackson, defensive lineman Jihad Ward, offensive tackle Jylan Ware and running back DeAndre Washington.
