The Ravens were already short-handed with five starters out. Now they’re without their top cornerback.

Cornerback Jimmy Smith did not come out for the second half of Sunday's game against the New York Giants due to a concussion. He will not return.

Smith briefly left the game in the first half, but returned a few plays later. He was doing a solid job against the Giants’ dangerous wide receivers of Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Victor Cruz.

Smith broke up a deep pass intended for Beckham Jr. that sent the Giants’ Pro Bowl receiver to the sideline with a hip injury (he returned), and led the team with five tackles in the first half.

With Smith sidelined, the Ravens’ cornerbacks are Shareece Wright and Will Davis on the outside with rookie fourth-round pick Tavon Young in the slot. In Davis’ first action of the season, he ended the first half with an interception.

Smith had 12 tackles and one pass defensed in the Ravens’ five games leading into Sunday’s contest at MetLife Stadium.

The Ravens defense is already without starting inside linebacker C.J. Mosley (thigh) and outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil (foot).
