History

Pittsburgh leads the all-time regular season series, 33-25, including a 15-14 edge in Baltimore. Pittsburgh holds a 3-2 advantage in the postseason.

Their last meeting occurred on Wild Card Weekend last season, when the Ravens prevailed, 28-14, at M&T Bank Stadium.

The Ravens dominated that game with their running attack, rushing for 299 yards compared to just 29 yards rushing for Pittsburgh. It was the most rushing yards ever allowed by Pittsburgh in a playoff game.

Derrick Henry led the way with 186 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. His 44-yard touchdown jaunt in the third quarter gave the Ravens a commanding 28-7 lead and they never looked back.

The Steelers' last win over the Ravens came in Week 11 last season, when Chris Boswell kicked six field goals to lift them to an 18-16 victory in Pittsburgh.

Stakes

It's the biggest game of the season to date. The winner will take sole possession of first place in the division with just four games left in the regular season. It's likely that only one team from the AFC North will make the playoffs. Sunday's winner will control its playoff destiny, while the loser will be in deep trouble.

Storylines to Know

How will Lamar Jackson feel and perform?

Jackson, who returned to practice Friday (ankle), has missed one practice for four straight weeks with various ailments.

"I just give [Jackson] a lot of credit," Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken said. "He's battling each week, trying to get healthy enough to be able to play every Sunday. I see a guy that's battling little nagging injuries, things that are stopping him from being able to get out there every day and practice."

Jackson hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in three straight games for the first time in his career. The Ravens haven't been clicking on all cylinders offensively for weeks, and they may need Jackson to play like he's healthy, even if he's not.

Will Baltimore avoid costly turnovers?

Pittsburgh leads the AFC in takeaways (22) and has recovered 12 fumbles. The Ravens are coming off a game in which they committed five turnovers.

The Steelers never stop looking for opportunities to take the football. Baltimore must protect it as if winning depends on it, because it just might.

"It has to be on your mind – at the forefront of your mind – at all times when you're a ball handler," Harbaugh said. "That's why we lost [to Cincinnati] at the end of the day… We all have to do better with it."

Which version of the Ravens will we see?

The Ravens played poorly enough to start 1-5, then rebounded to win five straight games before a subpar performance on Thanksgiving in their loss to the Bengals.

It's been hard to get a read on the Ravens this season, but this game will reveal plenty. The stakes are obvious, and they're playing their biggest rival. It's time to make a statement.

"If you can't get up for this one, I think that shows something about your character, that shows something about your will," Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey said. "Honestly, I think that just shows if you are a Raven or if you're not a Raven. They say that there's no must-win game, but this is definitely a must-win game."

X-Factor Players

RB Derrick Henry

Baltimore is 12-1 when Henry gets 20 carries or more over the past two seasons. The Steelers are coming off a game in which they gave up 249 yards rushing against Buffalo. If Henry has a strong game, the Ravens' chances of winning are excellent.

OLB Mike Green

Green leads the Ravens with 11 quarterback hits and Aaron Rodgers wants to get rid of the football quickly, playing with a fractured left wrist. Rodgers is 3-0 vs. Baltimore during his career as a starter, but getting a consistent pass rush against him would go a long way toward keeping him in check. This will be Green's first Ravens-Steelers game, and he'll be looking to leave a mark on the rivalry and on Rodgers.

ILB Roquan Smith

Smith's pursuit and tackling will be critical in defending Pittsburgh's rushing attack, and he's also familiar with Rodgers from their days in the NFC North. As a defensive leader, Smith has been sending verbal messages to teammates all week, reinforcing how important this game is. Smith hopes to send the loudest message with his play on Sunday.
