Press Releas - Ravens Provide Nearly $100,000 Of Plan In Motion Grants

RAVENS PROVIDE NEARLY $100,000 OF PLAN IN MOTION GRANTS

The Ravens All Community Team Foundation (RACTF) has awarded nearly $100,000 in grants to 24 nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore area. In its sixth year, the Ravens' Plan in Motion project continued to provide grants of up to $5,000 for initiating and/or expanding programs or endeavors that promote physical fitness and nutrition education among youth.

The 2012 Plan in Motion grant funding supports a variety of projects, such as interscholastic athletic programs for students with disabilities, squash clubs, triathlon training and after school intramurals, all of which work to increase physical activity and health awareness among local youth. Several projects that received grants for 2012 include: funding for the Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School's Seed to the Table program, affording over 300 students the opportunity to learn about growing, preparing and enjoying nutritious food by means of their schoolyard garden, fruit trees and chicken coop; continued support of Baltimore SquashWise, providing Baltimore youth with a safe exercise environment while offering them tailored squash lessons and education tutoring; and providing the means to expand Achieve Kids Tri, Inc. to Baltimore, giving under-privileged and at-risk children the opportunity to learn the proper fundamentals of swimming, biking and running.

The Ravens All Community Team Foundation is committed to improving, encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in Baltimore and throughout the state of Maryland. Annually, the RACTF provides more than $500,000 in grant funding to local nonprofits. In addition to the Plan in Motion program, other RACTF foundation projects focused on youth include the Ravens Scholars Program, stadium renovations at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (2006) and Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School (2008), the Ravens Youth Football Equipment and Apparel Grant Program and KaBoom! playground builds at Collington Square School (2007), the Good Samaritan Hospital Child Development Center (2009) and German Park (2011).
