FRIDAY PODIUM TRANSCRIPT: Week 6 vs. bears

Opening statement:"Good seeing you guys, appreciate you being here. Good practice, a little drizzly, but the guys were in to it. We're preparing for Sunday."
I'm sure you're not looking forward to seeing him in the backfield, but how much are you looking forward to catching up with former Raven and current Bears OLB Pernell McPhee? (Luke Jones) "Right – well, both of those things are true. I don't know how much we'll talk. Maybe we'll see each other before the game and say 'hello.' [I have] nothing but respect for Pernell and what he's done, what he's accomplished, and who he is."
When your dad, Jack, comes, how much do you watch film together? (Ryan Mink) "We do! We watch practice together all the time. We always watch the practice tape after practice, and it's fun. My dad is here; Mike Gottfried is here – you guys remember Mike Gottfried. Two of the finest … There they are! Look at them over there, laughing and telling stories. Two of the finest coaches in the history of college football, right there – Jack Harbaugh and Mike Gottfried! There they are!" *(laughter) *
How encouraging was it to see CB Jimmy Smith come back? (Ed Lee)"It was encouraging. It's good to see him out there. I've, kind of, anticipated Friday being the day we target him for practice. I look forward to looking at the tape and talking to him later and seeing how he feels."
I think if CB Maurice Canady is an option for IR return, he can return to practice soon. Is that on your radar? Or is it still too early for him? (Jeff Zrebiec)"No, it is on our radar. We're looking at that as a possibility. The rule is six weeks to return to practice, eight weeks to return to play – at the earliest. You have to have a two-week grace period there. Then, I think you have up to three weeks to decide with one of those guys, once you bring them up to practice, whether you're going to put them on the 53-man [roster]. So, Maurice is in the ballpark for that. He's been seeing the doctors; he's been rehabbing hard. We'll just have to see where we're at starting next week."
Along those lines, any anticipation with RB Danny Woodhead? He's in that same mix. (Jamison Hensley)"Yes, he's in the same mix. Danny wouldn't be practicing next week – I can tell you that. So, Maurice has a chance for next week; Danny would not have a chance. [And] that's just practice – they can't play, or anything like that. We just have to see where he's at next week. Now, Danny, that evaluation goes on. It'll be soon; he becomes eligible here shortly."
**With DT Carl Davis returning, is he available for something? *(Ed Lee) *"Perhaps. It'll probably be a game-time decision with Carl. He was out here the other day at practice, looked good. We'll just have to see how he feels Sunday."
We did see DT Brandon Williams on the practice field at the end. (Luke Jones) "Same thing; we just have to see where those guys are at. Those guys want to come back. I mean, if they can come back, I'm going to want to play them. So, we'll just have to see where we're at."
