The Ravens are 1-3 and badly need a win over the Houston Texans. They'll have to do it with an injury-riddled roster.
Baltimore has ruled out quarterback Lamar Jackson and four other starters for Sunday's game at M&T Bank Stadium.
Here's who's ruled out:
- Jackson (hamstring)
- CB Chidobe Awuzie (hamstring)
- CB Marlon Humphrey (calf)
- LB Roquan Smith (hamstring)
- FB Patrick Ricard (calf)
- OL Emery Jones Jr. (shoulder)
Seven players, including five Pro Bowlers, didn't practice Friday. Beyond those who are ruled out, four more Ravens are questionable to play.
- S Kyle Hamilton (groin)
- OLB Odafe Oweh (eye)
- OT Ronnie Stanley (ankle)
- WR Devontez Walker (oblique)
The Ravens' injury list does not include defensive tackles Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) and Broderick Washington Jr. (ankle), who went on injured reserve last week. Head Coach John Harbaugh said the Ravens' injury list is so long that he didn't even have the patience to take questions about each player.
Backup quarterback Cooper Rush will make his first start as a Raven. He's been in this position before with 14 starts and a 9-5 record under his belt.
Baltimore's cornerback depth will be put to the test without Humphrey and Awuzie, who didn't practice all week. That could mean Jaire Alexander is back in the lineup for the first time since Week 1 and more snaps for second-year cornerback T.J. Tampa and undrafted rookie Keyon Martin. Nate Wiggins (elbow) returned to full practice participation Friday and will play.
Hamilton practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, but not since with a groin injury suffered during Sunday's loss in Kansas City. Second-year safety Sanoussi Kane would be tasked with filling his big shoes.
Last year's sack leader, Kyle Van Noy, is slated to return after missing the past two weeks due to a hamstring injury. However, Oweh popped up on the injury report this week with an eye issue.
Left tackle Ronnie Stanley had two limited practices on Thursday and Friday and is also questionable. He started last week in Kansas City but his ankle injury forced him to the sideline early and Joe Noteboom took over in relief.
Defensive tackle Travis Jones (knee) and center Tyler Linderbaum (calf) were full practice participants Friday and carry no injury designation, meaning they're slated to play.
Meanwhile, all of the Texans' starters have practiced this week, so they should be at full strength. Houston ruled out three reserves: defensive end Denico Autry, defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi, and safety Jaylen Reed.
The Texans are also signing veteran offensive tackle Trent Brown from their practice squad to the active roster, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
