Ravens Announce Coaching Hires

The Baltimore Ravens have officially added two members to their coaching staff, head coach **John Harbaugh*** *announced Thursday.

**Roy Anderson** has been named as the team's defensive assistant and **Matt Weiss** was hired as the head coaching assistant.

Anderson, 29, has been with the Ravens the past four seasons, serving as a player personnel assistant from 2005-07. Last year, he split time with the personnel department and coaching staff, working mainly as a coaching assistant with the defensive line. Anderson also compiled self-scouting reports and did computer game-planning.

As a defensive assistant, Anderson will continue to work primarily with defensive line coach **Clarence Brooks**. He'll also be charged with defensive quality control duties, which include self-scouting, analyzing game film and breaking down opponent tendencies.

"Roy was a big part of what we did last year," Harbaugh stated. "He helped us prepare our coaches and players. He's a bright young coach with a tremendous future."

Weiss, 26, comes from Stanford University where he coached during the 2005-08 seasons. He was a graduate assistant for the Cardinal from 2005-07, handling quality control duties, working with several defensive positions and helping coach special teams. In 2008, Weiss was named the team's defensive and special teams assistant.

In his role with the Ravens, Weiss will assist Harbaugh with administrative duties and also work closely with the defense as a quality control coach. Weiss has some familiarity with the Harbaugh coaching family, as he worked under Jim Harbaugh, the current head coach at Stanford and brother of John.

"Matt has a great football background and has built a tremendous foundation as a coach," John Harbaugh affirmed. "He'll be very valuable to our staff and players as we go forward."
