Biography

NICK MATTEO, who is in his fourth season in Baltimore, oversees all areas of football administration, including day-to-day salary cap management and general roster transactions. Since joining the club in 2019, Matteo has negotiated the contracts of all 37 draft picks during that time, plus several free agents, and has worked on the extensions for a number of key Ravens, including most recently All-Pro TE Mark Andrews. He is the Ravens' key liaison with the NFL Management Council and NFL Players Association. During the 2020-21 seasons, Matteo worked with former Ravens president Dick Cass and other senior staff members to navigate the League's COVID-19 protocols. Matteo was the Ravens' main communicator with the League office regarding COVID-19 pandemic matters and helped create the Ravens' Infectious Disease Emergency Response (IDER) plan.

2019-22: (with Baltimore) 2022: Negotiated contracts for free agents CB Kyle Fuller, T Morgan Moses and S Marcus Williams. 2021: Promoted to vice president of football administration...Oversaw the contract negotiations for free agent G Kevin Zeitler and the extension of TE Mark Andrews. 2020: Negotiated contract extensions for LT Ronnie Stanley, S Chuck Clark and P Sam Koch...Served as the Ravens' Infection Control Officer under the COVID-19 protocols. 2019: Handled negotiations for the contracts of CB Marcus Peters and FB Pat Ricard...Hired by new GM Eric DeCosta to be the team's director of football administration.

2010-18: (with National Football League) Served in several roles in the NFL Management Council for nine years, eventually becoming the NFL's senior director of labor operations...Matteo was the main contact for NFL club executives on various subjects, including player contracts, salary cap matters and collective bargaining agreement issues...Contributed in the drafting of certain articles of the 2011-2020 NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement...Acted as a liaison between labor operations and other NFL departments including legal and football operations...Worked as a game operations monitor at preseason, regular season and postseason games.

COLLEGE/PERSONAL: Matteo was an All-State wrestler at Bergen Catholic (Oradell, NJ) HS...He holds four degrees, first obtaining a B.A. from the Annenberg School for Communications at Penn, where he was also on the varsity wrestling team...He later earned his MBA and a masters in sports administration at Ohio University before graduating from Rutgers Law School...A member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, he also received a certificate in business analytics from Penn's Wharton Business School, and in 2021, earned a certificate in machine learning from MIT...Matteo was named to The Athletic's "NFL 40 Under 40" list in 2020 and 2021, which highlights rising stars across the league in various roles under the age of 40...He is a past member of the NFL Management Council Working Group Club Executive Committee...Matteo is also the president of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Olympic Regional Training Center in Philadelphia, an organization that operates under USA Wrestling for Olympic development of both senior-level athletes as well as college/high school athletes...Serves as a board member of Penn Wrestling's Grapplers Club...Nick married his wife, Allie, in 2022.
