As he seems to always do, former Eagles center and "Monday Night Countdown" host Jason Kelce made his presence known ahead of the Ravens' game against the Lions Monday night.
During pregame warmups, Kelce suited up in a full Marching Ravens band uniform and played the saxophone for the "Monday Night Countdown" theme song.
An Ohio native, Kelce played the baritone saxophone in the jazz band and the symphonic winds ensemble at Cleveland Heights High School. He said on the most recent "New Heights" podcast episode that he picked up the saxophone Monday morning for the first time in a while and warmed up with songs like "Hot Cross Buns."
"It was awesome, it was a lot of fun," Kelce said. "They were more than accommodating and made it super easy for me, which I appreciate you guys. Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, that was a lot of fun. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Sorry for being really sh** at the saxophone now, but had a blast."
The seven-time Pro Bowler has previously credited part of his success on the gridiron to his time as a musician.
"I really think playing band and playing music in general has allowed me to excel in sport and other things, because, as with anything, I encourage kids to play as many sports, do as many extracurriculars as you can that you enjoy, because you end up drawing things from each one of those that is unique and different," Kelce said in a 2024 episode of the "New Heights" podcast, via Us Weekly.
Kelce was one of several high-profile celebrities inside M&T Bank Stadium for Monday's "Darkness Falls" game, including former Maryland basketball player Derik Queen, ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, and former NBA superstar and Baltimore native Carmelo Anthony, who served as the honorary captain.
