The pain Lamar Jackson was going through Sunday night – physically and emotionally – was oozing from the Ravens' star quarterback following the Ravens' 28-24 loss to the New England Patriots.
Jackson suffered a back injury near the end of the first half and couldn't return, as much as he wanted to.
After the game, he struggled to walk out of the locker room. When he paused to take questions from reporters, Jackson slumped against a locker.
Jackson left near the end of the first half after taking a knee to the back from Patriots safety Craig Woodson. Jackson was going to the ground at the end of a 3-yard quarterback read-option run.
"It's BS, bro," Jackson said. "I can't control that. I'm on the ground. I'm down. I gave myself up. I got kneed in the back. ... [I'm] getting injured, and then we're fighting for a chance to make the playoffs. I can't finish the game with my guys. It's BS."
Jackson was ruled out of the game in the third quarter, ceding to backup Tyler Huntley. While Huntley went 9-of-10 for 65 yards passing and helped lead two Ravens touchdown drives in the second half, Baltimore's offense and Jackson came out of the gates hot.
""I'm mad, because I felt like the game was in our favor," Jackson said.
Jackson said he got a Toradol shot in the locker room and tried to throw the football with a trainer, but was in too much pain to return.
"It's a bruise of some kind," Head Coach John Harbaugh said. "I don't know how serious he'll be. We'll have to find out in the next couple of days."
Jackson said he's going to get more testing done on Monday. He hopes he'll be able to play against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday in a game the Ravens must win to stay alive in the postseason hunt.
"My legs felt great. I just got kneed in the back in the red zone. I just couldn't finish the game. I was trying. I [got] a Toradol shot and stuff like that, but it still didn't get [any] better," Jackson said. "Pain. It hurts. [It] hurts."
