Ravens Friday Quotes: Week 5 At Chiefs

Head Coach John Harbaugh

Opening statement:"It's good to see everybody. Thanks for coming. We had a good day, good week, and we are anxious to go play. There's nobody on the injury report. What could you even ask?" (laughing)

With the Orioles, you were talking about the other day, they are going into their Wild Card game tonight. What do you think? Do you think they can get through Texas? (Bill West) "Absolutely, of course. It will be great. I will be watching, along with all of the rest of us in Baltimore. Let's get after those guys."

It would be great for them to be back on Sunday hosting the Yankees at home. (Bill West) "Yes, that would be great. I don't really know the plans. How does it work? Give me the update. I've been a little busy." (laughter)

If they get through Texas, then they play the Yankees on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday they are off. (Bill West) "We are excited. We are looking forward to it, but really, truthfully, our focus has been more on the Chiefs. We are rooting for the Orioles, but we are focused on the Chiefs."

*Going into that loud stadium, how loud it is down there. You're pumping it up – heard some Pat Benatar and everything going on out here today. Is that getting those guys focused? It's pretty loud. (Bill West) *"That's the idea. It's not really so much about the songs, per se. We had a nice eclectic mix of music, you might have noticed. It's about the noise. It's about communicating when it's really loud and the verbal and nonverbal communication. That's a big challenge, but it always is. It's something that every week we work on. We've been working on that since the first day of minicamp, actually."

From your experience, when is the ideal week to have your bye? Do you want it in the middle, late or early? (Robert Klemko) "My experience has said it's not even worth judging because you don't know. You never know the circumstances you are going to be in. It's probably going be when you need the most recovery, and you need to heal up the most. We've had it every different part of the season it seems like. Every time we've had it, we've appreciated it. We even had one taken away from us. I think we had a 'bye day,' we said, that year [in 2008 due to Hurricane Ike in Houston in Week 2]. Remember? So, we've had them all here."

Is it a good feeling going into the fourth game, a lot of guys from other teams are going through a big injury thing and being real healthy four games in a row? It's has to feel pretty good.* (Bill West)* "What we have to focus on are the things that we can control, and our guys do a good job of taking care of themselves. We have a strong team, physically. Obviously, [head certified athletic trainer] Mark [Smith] and [strength and conditioning coach] Bob [Rogucki] do a great job. The focus is on how we play right now. That's what we think about, and that's what we are spending our time with."
