Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith was reportedly arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct late Saturday night, according to The Baltimore Sun.
Police told The Sun that Smith was cited for failure to obey a lawful order.
The Ravens are aware of the situation.
"We're gathering information about this," said Ravens Senior Vice President Of Public And Community Relations Kevin Byrne.
Smith, 25, was reportedly helping an intoxicated and nauseous woman in the bathroom of a Towson bar, but allegedly did not comply and became argumentative with medics when they asked him to step away into the hallway. He reportedly said several times that he was helping the woman.
Police said Smith was cooperative with officers after being arrested. He was reportedly released from custody at about 11:15 p.m. after a citation was issued. A court date has yet to be scheduled.
Smith has never had any off-field issues since becoming a Raven in 2011. He slid in the draft that year because of some perceived character concerns stemming from college.
The former first-round pick is coming off a breakout season in which he logged 58 tackles, two interceptions and 15 pass deflections, and is a candidate for a contract extension. This marks the fifth Ravens player to be arrested this offseason, following running back Ray Rice (felony aggravated assault), wide receiver Deonte Thompson (felony possession of marijuana), offensive lineman Jah Reid (misdemeanor battery) and rookie running back Lorenzo Taliaferro (misdemeanor destruction of property).
