In 2021, following 25 seasons as the Ravens' head team physician, DR. ANDREW TUCKER was hired in a full-time capacity to serve as the organization's chief medical officer. He has worked closely with Baltimore players since the team's 1996 inception, and prior to that, spent five years as the Cleveland Browns' team physician.

Dr. Tucker has accrued over 30 years of experience providing primary medical care to professional, collegiate, scholastic and recreational athletes – most recently serving as medical director of the MedStar Health Sports Medicine program at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.

Reporting to EVP & GM Eric DeCosta for all matters related to player care, Dr. Tucker oversees day-to-day player wellness. Even with his CMO position for the Ravens, he maintains his clinical practice at MedStar.  

In addition to his role as the Ravens' CMO, Dr. Tucker has served on several NFL medical committees and most recently was Chair of the NFL Medical Committee, while he's also a past president of the NFL Physicians' Society.

Dr. Tucker's clinical research includes cardiovascular health and screening in athletes and sports concussion in pediatric and adult athletes. He is published in multiple medical journals and has written book chapters on a variety of sports health topics, including concussion, pre-participation examinations, and musculoskeletal injuries and disorders.

Prior to joining MedStar in 2004, Dr. Tucker was the director of primary care sports medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and an assistant professor for the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1996-2004).

He has also served as a staff physician in the Department of Orthopedics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and as an assistant clinical professor at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

After receiving his medical degree from Southern Illinois University, he completed two fellowships in sports medicine. 

Andrew and his wife, Sheldon, have three children: daughters, Caroline and Sally, and a son, Drew.
