Biography

On April 1, 2022, longtime sports executive SASHI BROWN became the Ravens' team president, succeeding Dick Cass, who retired after 18 years with the organization.

Brown, 46, assumes the responsibilities held by Cass, overseeing all business areas of the organization, including finances, budgeting, non-football personnel, corporate sales, operations, stadium activities, communications and business ventures.

"We're excited to attract an accomplished leader like Sashi," owner Steve Bisciotti stated.

"He's very smart and has good judgement," added Cass about Brown. "He's thoughtful, and what you really notice are his people skills, poise and presence."

For the three years (2019-21) prior to his Baltimore arrival, Brown worked at Monumental Sports & Entertainment, last serving as President of Monumental Basketball (Wizards, Mystics and Go-Go) and as a special advisor to the CEO.

Brown also previously accrued 13 years of NFL experience, including five seasons (2013-17) with the Cleveland Browns, where he served two years (2016-17) as executive vice president of football operations. Prior to that, he spent eight years (2005-12) with the Jacksonville Jaguars, last serving as senior vice president and general counsel.

In 2015, Brown was named to the Sports Business Journal's "Forty Under 40" list.

He began his career as an attorney at the Washington, D.C.-based law firm WilmerHale.

2019-21: (with Monumental Sports & Entertainment) In November 2021, Brown was promoted to special advisor to the CEO and President of Monumental Basketball...He oversaw various operations for the Wizards, Mystics and Go-Go, including research and information systems, technology, equipment, communications, finance, facilities, security and player engagement...He originally joined Monumental Basketball as the chief planning and operations officer in July 2019.

2013-17: (with Cleveland Browns) Brown was promoted to executive vice president of football operations in January 2016, leading the development of an organizational vision and strategic plan for rebuilding football operations...He oversaw all football operation functions, including salary cap and contracts, scouting, medical, equipment, video, travel, security, facilities and athletic performance...Originally hired by Cleveland as its executive vice president and general counsel, Brown worked in both football and business capacities...Upon his arrival, he was responsible for overseeing the team's football administration functions and player contract negotiations...On the business side, his duties included commercial contracts, government affairs, risk management, intellectual property issues, litigation and stadium matters.

2005-12: (with Jacksonville Jaguars) Brown spent eight years as Jacksonville's senior vice president and general counsel...He was involved in both football and business operations, which included playing a key role in helping negotiate the naming rights deal for EverBank Field.

2002-05: (with WilmerHale) Brown represented clients in a variety of matters, including sports-related transactions, venture capital and private equity deals, as well as mergers and acquisitions.

COLLEGE: Brown earned his bachelor of arts degree (mass media) from Hampton University in 1998 and a juris doctorate degree from Harvard Law School in 2002.

PERSONAL: Brown has a longstanding history of civic involvement, having served on the boards of directors for the Cleveland Browns Foundation, Cleveland Development Advisors, Jacksonville Housing Authority, Jacksonville Museum of Science and History and the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation...He is currently on the board of trustees at Hampton University and is the chairman of the Ravens Foundation, Inc...He's also on the board of Delivering Good, a non-profit organization that supports people affected by poverty and tragedy...Though he was born in Boston, Brown mostly grew up in Middletown, CT...While attending Hampton University, he spent time as a radio play-by-play announcer and analyst for the school's football and basketball teams...He also hosted a radio show focused on jazz music, which he remains passionate about today...Sashi and his wife, Paige, have two sons (Robeson and Ellison) and two daughters (Zora and Ananda).
