Who Ravens Fans Should Root for in Week 12

Root4Thumb

After winning four straight games, the Ravens are back in the center of the playoff mix.

Baltimore will host the New York Jets at 1 p.m. on Sunday for the first of three straight home games — a critical stretch for a team that started 1-5.

With each week that passes by, the margin for error becomes slimmer for the playoff race, adding more intrigue to each week's slate of games.

Here's who to root for across the league in Week 12:

Pittsburgh Steelers (6-4) @ Chicago Bears (7-3)

1 p.m., CBS

This is the big one. With a loss and a Ravens win, the Steelers give up control of the AFC North division lead. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers is questionable with a left wrist injury, with long-time backup Mason Rudolph ready to start if needed. Rodgers has plenty of history against the Bears during his days in Green Bay. But with Head Coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams now running the show, this year's Bears aren't the same Rodgers dominated over the years. The Bears have won seven of their last eight games and are in first place in the NFC North.

New England Patriots (9-2) @ Cincinnati Bengals (3-7)

1 p.m., CBS

Quarterback Joe Burrow won’t make his return after missing the last eight games following surgery on his turf toe injury, meaning former Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco will make another start in Cincinnati. Flacco will be without Ja'Marr Chase, who is suspended for Sunday's game after spitting on Steelers defensive back Jalen Ramsey last week. Defensive end Trey Hendrickson is also out against Drake Maye and the Patriots' offense. Looking back in January might reveal that fans should've rooted for the Bengals in this game to improve the Ravens' playoff seeding. But without a crystal ball, setting the Bengals back further in the division race is the right choice.

Indianapolis Colts (8-2) @ Kansas City Chiefs (5-5)

1 p.m., CBS

With a loss, the Chiefs would drop below .500 in late November. That would be foreign territory for a franchise that has made five of the last six Super Bowls. The Colts are coming off a bye week and have an MVP candidate in running back Jonathan Taylor, who leads the league in rushing with 1,139 yards and 17 total touchdowns. Kansas City has the tiebreaker over Baltimore, so any loss will help the Ravens' chances if they need a Wild-Card berth.

Root for: Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars (6-4) @ Arizona Cardinals (3-7)

4:05 p.m., CBS

After suffering a brutal loss to the Texans the week prior, Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars bounced back with an impressive 29-point win over the Chargers last week. They'll visit quarterback Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals, who have dropped seven of their last eight contests after starting 2-0. The Jaguars are among the three AFC South teams vying for a playoff spot.
