The Caw: Ravens Fan Plans to Buy Eric Weddle an Ice Cream Truck

Eric Weddle's victory ice cream tradition might be getting a huge upgrade after winning the AFC North.

Cameron Smith, a 26-year-old Ravens fan from Annapolis, tweeted this at Weddle after the Ravens' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Dec. 16:

As it stood then, the Ravens were a ½ game behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and would likely have to beat the Chargers in Los Angeles, then the Browns at home. Plus the Steelers would have to lose one of their final two games for the Ravens to win the AFC North.

Smith felt pretty confident he wouldn't have to pay up. And at least he might get Weddle's attention on social media. He also thought it might be a motivator of sorts.

"I never thought the Steelers would fall off the way they did," Smith said. "I was confident we would get the wild-card, however."

Welp, the Ravens are now division champs and Weddle hasn't forgotten about Smith's offer.

So is Smith serious?

"I am a man of my word, so, yes, I am trying to save up to buy a used ice cream truck with the help of some other Ravens fans," Smith said.

Smith runs the front desk at a gym. His plan is to start a GoFundMe to crowdsource this operation. His initial research says it will cost about $4,000. Smith said he's heard from about a dozen Ravens fans who said they would contribute.

In the meantime, Weddle can enjoy all the ice cream he wants with his $1 million bonus for being voted into the Pro Bowl, plus winning the division. Plus he got a $100 gift card from Safeway, which he used to buy his (late) Sunday night treat.
