What the Dolphins Said After Their Week 1 Loss

Head Coach Brian Flores

On how he explains what happened in such a blowout:

"Well it starts with coaching. It starts with me. I've got to do a better job of coaching this team. We've got to play better. It starts with me. We've got a long way to go. We've got a lot of work we have to do. The good thing is we get to practice tomorrow, we get to practice this week, and we've got an opportunity to get better. That's the goal, and that's what we'll try to do."

On the Ravens' fake punt and 4*th*-down touchdown:

"It's our job to stop them. Those are my thoughts. It's not their job to let off. So it's our job to stop them. [Head Coach] John [Harbaugh] is a good coach. They've got a good team. It's our job to stop them. I'm not looking for handouts here."

On what he planned to do different defensively:

"Obviously, what we thought we could do, we didn't execute. I thought we could execute. We didn't do a good job of execution. We've got to do a better job there. I didn't think there was a scheme issue. There was an execution problem and we weren't getting aligned. We'll be better next week."

QB Ryan Fitzpatrick

On a tough day at the office:

"It's never good to be embarrassed like that, especially at this level. What we had talked about: nobody is going to feel sorry for you and your situation. That's what happens. You go out there and if you don't execute, you're going to get beat bad like that. Obviously we need to play better, which is an understatement."

On his first quarter interception:

"It happened. Earl [Thomas III] made a nice play. We tried to get Kenyan [Drake] down the seam and Earl came out of center field and picked it."

QB Josh Rosen

On how well he controlled the offense:

"Not really well. Throwing a pick is never what you want to do. We've all got a lot of work to do."

DT Davon Godchaux

On the game plan vs. the Ravens offense:

"We wanted to keep – basically make Lamar [Jackson] throw the ball. Like I said, I [take] my hat off to the Baltimore Ravens. Lamar had a great game. He threw the ball, threw some touchdowns. I don't know how many he threw, but he threw some touchdowns. Hats off to those guys. Those guys had a great game plan, great execution. They just flat out beat us."

CB Eric Rowe

On the difficulty of defending a Lamar Jackson offense:

"They came out ready to go. Lamar, he obviously had a great day throwing. They had a great day running. Just all around. The offense was kind of what we expected. At the end of the day, we just have to play better."

LB Raekwon McMillan

On the Ravens' fast start:

"They came out ready to play and we came out a little sluggish at the beginning and they jumped out on us early. We just have to rally back together next weekend, and hopefully we can get a better outcome of the game."

RB Kenyan Drake

On posting just 21 rushing yards:

"The defense – they're a great defense. You've got to tip your hat to them because they came out and had the ability to stop us and we didn't execute the game plan to our maximum potential. Once you get down early, you can't really run the ball because you're trying to pass the ball to get back into the game, so it was just a recipe for disaster from a running standpoint."

C Daniel Kilgore

On if the Ravens did anything they didn't expect:

"No, not at all. You know Baltimore, they're a good defense, always have been. They're well coached, have big guys up front, speed and size on the edges. Nothing out of the ordinary. We just have to play better."
