After a career-high 36 carries for a season-high 216 yards and four touchdowns Saturday in Green Bay, Derrick Henry said he might be a little sore the next day, but he felt good.
"I'm built for it," he said. "This is what I train for."
The prevailing belief is that Henry gets stronger as the season goes on. As his opponents' bodies get achier, the ageless Henry keeps pounding away.
The stats back it up. Henry's 90.0 Pro Football Focus (PFF) grade against the Packers was his highest of the season. Last year, his 90.4 grade in Week 17 in Houston was his highest mark.
According to Next Gen Stats (NGS), Henry's top speed increased with each quarter, topping out at 20.72 mph on his 25-yard touchdown to ice the game. That was his fourth-fastest top speed of the season. His average speed in the first half was 6.7 mph. In the second half, it was 8.5.
Henry set season-highs with nine missed tackles forced and +97 rushing yards over expected (RYOE), per NGS. He bludgeoned the Packers on inside carries in the first half, totaling 73 yards, two touchdowns, and +30 RYOE on 15 such carries. In the second half, he was much more effective on outside runs, gaining 75 yards and +49 RYOE.
A week after Henry's snap share was questioned, he had 48 snaps to 14 for Keaton Mitchell and 15 for Rasheen Ali.
Here are other takeaways from the Ravens' snap counts and grades versus the Packers:
- Defensive tackle Travis Jones had his second-highest grade (90.0) of the season with four tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a tackle for loss. Star Packers running back Josh Jacobs gained just three yards on four carries, and Jones was a force in the pass rush. He had a team-high seven pressures and now has a career-high four sacks this season. Jones keeps making his contract extension look like a wise decision.
- Dre'Mont Jones posted his highest grade of the season (82.3) with six tackles and six quarterback pressures, per PFF.
- Tight end Isaiah Likely played a season-high 70% of the Ravens' offensive snaps. He caught all three passes that came his way, including some tough contested catches, and made a huge impact as a run blocker. His 75.0 run blocking grade was the best on the team.
- Likely played 53 snaps, Charlie Kolar played 73, and Mark Andrews played 31. The tight end trio had three of the Ravens' top six offensive grades.
- Tyler Huntley played an excellent game stepping in for injured Lamar Jackson (back contusion) and received an 82.0 grade. It wasn't Huntley's best performance, however. The best grade of his career (87.4) came last season as a Miami Dolphin, when he completed 22 of 26 passes for 225 yards and scored two touchdowns in Cleveland. His second-best grade was also against the Packers in 2021, when Huntley threw for 215 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more scores in an overtime loss. "Snoop" likes playing the Packers.
- Fullback Patrick Ricard has played his highest snap percentages the past two weeks – 58.2% against the New England Patriots and 57% in Green Bay. Ricard had his lowest grade of the season and the team's lowest run blocking grade in Green Bay, yet Henry still had a historically good night.
- Several defensive backs had rough nights. Nate Wiggins had the lowest grade of all of them with a 44.1. According to PFF, Wiggins surrendered five catches for 111 yards on six targets. Safety Alohi Gilman had his lowest grade as a Raven (47.6), and cornerback Marlon Humphrey had a 48.8 grade despite getting a critical fourth-quarter interception.
- Cornerback Chidobe Awuzie, who played just 26 snaps in his first game back from a foot injury, had the Ravens' top coverage grade after allowing one catch for 9 yards on three targets.
