Minnesota Vikings safety Andrew Sendejo has been suspended for the hit that knocked the Ravens' Mike Wallace out of Sunday's game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
Sendejo will miss one game, without pay, but he can appeal.
As Wallace tried to turn up field after reeling in a pass over the middle early in the first quarter Sunday, Sendejo delivered a shot to the head that knocked Wallace's helmet off. As Wallace fell to the ground, the back of his head hit the turf.
Wallace lay on the ground until he was helped to his feet by trainers. He was found to have a concussion and sat out the rest of the game.
"The violation was flagrant and warrants a suspension because it could have been avoided," Jon Runyan, NFL Vice President of Football Operations said in a letter to Sendejo, "and was violently directed at the head and neck area and unreasonably placed both you and an opposing player at risk of serious injury."
When asked Monday about the hit drawing a suspension, Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh declined to comment.
Wallace was on the practice field for a walk-through workout Monday but remains in the concussion protocol, Harbaugh said.
