The Ravens defense had a rough day in a 38-30 loss to the Detroit Lions on "Monday Night Football," and some of the leaders were pointing at themselves.
Baltimore surrendered 224 rushing yards, the third-most during the Head Coach John Harbaugh era, and had 20 missed tackles, per Next Gen Stats.
"We just have to be more physical at the point of the attack, myself included, myself primarily," safety Kyle Hamilton said. "I think I could have done a lot better doing that."
Some of the Ravens' lowest Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades belonged to the team's star defensive players.
The five lowest grades were from cornerback Marlon Humphrey (30.1), defensive tackle Broderick Washington Jr. (29.9), Hamilton (29.3), linebacker Roquan Smith (27.9), and defensive tackle Travis Jones (26.0).
Here's a deeper look at the Ravens' PFF grades and snap counts versus the Lions:
- Derrick Henry had the Ravens' lowest grade among offensive players (43.6). His third fumble in three games was costly in the fourth quarter.
- Right tackle Roger Rosengarten had his lowest grade (50.1) since the first game of his career last year in Kansas City. Rosengarten was credited with a team-high six pressures allowed.
- Rookie inside linebacker Teddye Buchanan took over the full-time job next to Roquan Smith, playing 94% of the defensive snaps. Trenton Simpson didn't have a defensive snap.
- While Baltimore's run defense struggled, veteran nose tackle John Jenkins got high marks with an 80.3 grade. He had eight tackles, including one for loss, on 33 defensive snaps (49%).
- With Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) sidelined, rookie second-round pick Mike Green played 52 defensive snaps (76%) and finished with four tackles and one of the Ravens' five quarterback hits on Jared Goff.
- Cornerback Nate Wiggins continued his strong start to the season, registering one of the Ravens' highest defensive grades with a 73.0. Wiggins gave up one catch on three targets for zero yards.
- Outside linebacker David Ojabo was active for his first game this season but played only six defensive snaps. Outside linebacker Tavius Robinson played almost twice as many snaps as Odafe Oweh (54 to 28).
