Usually when Ravens kicker Justin Tucker hits a big field goal, or even a game-winner, quarterback Joe Flacco doesn't mind the celebration.
After all, it often means the Ravens just won. So Flacco is happy too.
But when Flacco watched the Ravens' final six games from the couch, he gained a new perspective.
And Flacco had to bust Tucker's chops while doing a fun interview on 98 Rock this morning.
"You watch him on TV and he hits a 50-yarder and he acts like he just won the Super Bowl. It was the second quarter," Flacco said with a laugh.
"He starts dancing and fist pumping and cursing. It's like, 'Dude, have a little bit of …' I don't even know what to say. You definitely want to go to him and be like, 'Tuck, you can't …'"
First, let's consider the source here. Flacco's celebrations are … ummm … underwhelming.
So, OK, maybe Tucker goes above and beyond. But I love it. After all, I dedicated an entire blog to ranking Tucker’s game-winning dances. I mean, how can you not love this?
The 98 Rock hosts stuck up for Tucker, too, saying he's finally made NFL kickers cool (or at least he's cool).
"This is why he is the way he is. … Look at you guys!" Flacco said with a laugh.
Then Flacco agreed that Tucker is cool. His first proof is that he, the Super Bowl MVP quarterback, hangs out with him. Hahahahaha.
"He made himself, from the very beginning, a part of the team. That's just his personality," Flacco said.
"And he's a very confident guy, too. You say kickers aren't football players, but the amount of kicks that he's hit for us and the amount of games he's won for us or helped us win, you definitely have to consider him a football player, and he's definitely part of the group and one of the guys."
When the Ravens had injuries to many of their stars, Tucker became one of the featured stars. He even got a Monday Night Football promo spot, something no other kicker in the league would ever garner.
"Believe me, we heard about it," Flacco said. "C'mon, why do you have to put him on there? Are you kidding me? I can't even get a Monday Night Football promo. Next thing you know, he's on there fist pumping and doing his little dance on the Monday night promo.
"If he hears me saying this, it's going to totally kill him, so somebody get this to him."
Don't worry, I'm on it, Joe.
