Former GM Predicts Lamar Jackson Will Lead League in Passing Yards
Lamar Jackson has an impressive list of individual accomplishments on his resume, but one thing he hasn't done is lead the league in passing yards.
Former Tennessee Titans General Manager Jon Robinson predicted Jackson will accomplish the feat this season.
"He's got Zay Flowers, he's got [DeAndre] Hopkins, he's got [Mark] Andrews, he's got [Isaiah] Likely, he's got [Offensive Coordinator] Todd Monken cooking up plays for him," Robinson said on "Good Morning Football." "He's been an MVP in the past. They're knocking on the door of going to a Super Bowl."
Robinson failed to mention wide receiver Rashod Bateman, who is looking to build off his breakout 2024 season, when he had a career-high marks of 756 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
There's also the presence of running back Derrick Henry, which opens things up in the passing game, as does the threat of Jackson running. Running backs Justice Hill, Keaton Mitchell, and others also contribute to the passing attack.
Jackson made huge strides as a passer last season, throwing for a career-high 4,172 yards, which ranked sixth in the league. He led the NFL in passer rating (119.6), QBR (77.3), touchdown percentage (8.6), yards per pass attempt (8.8), and air yards per pass attempt (10.15).
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow led the league with 4,918 passing yards last season.
Pundit Names Ravens Players Who Have Something to Prove
With OTAs underway, Russell Street Report’s Kevin McNelis identified several Ravens players with something to prove. Here's his thoughts on two:
CB Jalyn Armour-Davis
"What to prove: He can outperform Baltimore's rookie CBs. He showed flashes, but he's never had the consistency in his playing career to show he can be a reliable DB in this secondary. Losing a big chunk of time last season to a nagging hamstring injury certainly didn't help, but he's now missed time in all three of his pro seasons to injury. This comes after a college career that also saw him medically redshirt a season. Now, entering the final year on Armour-Davis' rookie deal, the Ravens brought in a pair of CBs in the draft in Bilhal Kone and Robert Longerbeam, both of whom have intriguing upside. If JAD doesn't show enough in the preseason to signal that he's 100% healthy and head and shoulders above these other guys as the vet in the group, he could be the odd man out."
OLB David Ojabo
"What to prove: He hasn't reached his ceiling. He was projected as a first-round selection prior to his Achilles injury during his Pro Day, and the hope was that between the lack of other injury history and his familiarity with the coaching staff when Mike Macdonald was here, he would be able to get healthy and bounce back. Unfortunately, to this point, it's never happened. … Now, Baltimore has added Mike Green to the EDGE room, and with Green's sky-high college production, Ojabo may be forced far enough down the depth chart that he loses out to guys like Tavius Robinson and Adisa Isaac."
Marlon Humphrey Ranked Among Top 10 Cornerbacks
After a 2023 season that was below his high standard, cornerback Marlon Humphrey bounced back in a big way last season.
The four-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro's performance was reflected in Pro Football Focus' cornerback rankings, where Humphrey came in at No. 7.
"After battling injuries in 2023 and posting a career-low 63.2 PFF coverage grade, Humphrey enjoyed a mostly healthy 2024 season and posted an 81.0 PFF coverage grade, good for the second-best mark of his career," PFF’s John Kosko wrote. "He ranked fourth in PFF advanced coverage grade in 2024, and his 6.4% interceptions-per-target rate was a career high."
Despite having a strong rookie season, Nate Wiggins did not make the top 32.
