The NFL is a 365-day-a-year giant.

But if there's one slow time, this is it.

Ravens coaches started their vacation today, and aren't expected back until training camp opens. Quarterbacks, rookies and injured players are due back on July 20th and all veterans five days later.

The players are also given the month off. Some veterans (especially those with homes in the area) still hang around to use the team's weight room on their own, and those rehabbing injuries are also still working with trainers.

Before the veterans broke, Head Coach John Harbaugh talked about what message he would give them.

"It will encompass our mission – what we have at stake starting on the 25th [of July], what we need to accomplish next in training camp," Harbaugh said. "Our eyes move to the next horizon, which is the training camp aspect of what we are going to do. We had a successful offseason."

During their month off, players were given a checklist of items to focus on: nutrition, recovery from minicamp and Organized Team Activities, training and studying the playbook.

The team also talks to players about keeping their nose out of trouble during the time away.

"Things can happen, but our guys did a great job if you look at the whole offseason," Harbaugh said. "So, I am proud of the guys for that, and obviously, would like them to continue with that, too.

"Get with your family, absolutely. Get refreshed a little bit mentally."
