Baltimore Ravens Spread Holiday Cheer

With the holidays quickly approaching, the Ravens have been busy spreading some cheer and joy to the Baltimore community.

Cornerbacks Chris Carr and Cary Williams joined Ravens cheerleaders and mascot Poe at Union Memorial Hospital, a division of MedStar Health, on Tuesday (12/13). The group made sure to visit each floor to help spread some holiday spirit and share some words of encouragement to individuals who are unable to be home for the holidays.

During the visit, Carr and Williams handed out team photos, posed for pictures and signed autographs for the hospital's patients and staff. They even helped Ravens cheerleaders come up with cheers for some of the patients.

Linebacker Ray Lewis provided a unique shopping experience for 200 local underserved youth at his annual Holiday Gift Marketplace at the Walmart in Port Covington on Tuesday (12/13). Children and their parents/guardians enjoyed holiday festivities, including a holiday meal, gift bags and a magician.

Each child had the opportunity to "shop" for themselves and their families from an assortment of gifts. Lewis helped the children pick out the perfect gifts and stopped to pose for pictures and sign autographs.

After selecting their gifts, volunteers from Walmart and the Ray Lewis Family Foundation helped the children wrap their presents.

On Tuesday (12/13), defensive end Cory Redding hosted a reward luncheon for students of Garrison Middle School who successfully completed the incentive-based program he implemented at the beginning of the school year.

During the luncheon, each student received a certificate from Redding to commemorate his/her participation in the program. Students also enjoyed pizza and festive holiday treats, donated by Bakery Express.

At the start of the program, students were asked to sign a pledge stating that they would come to school every day prepared to learn, be respectful, follow all rules and make a maximum effort in learning and completing all assignments. Students who succeeded in following these guidelines received tickets to Ravens home games this season, courtesy of Redding.
