Lamar Jackson has broken plenty of ankles on the football field, but this week, he was nurturing them.
Jackson and several other teammates, including Derrick Henry and Zay Flowers, washed the feet of Severn Elementary School students on Monday. Washing feet is a Christian ritual originating from Jesus washing his disciples' feet during the Last Supper.
Jackson and the team also gifted new shoes to students, representing the importance of humility and serving others.
Jackson said he was in chapel last week when Ravens Chaplain Johnny Shelton told him about the upcoming event.
"I felt like it was cool to do," Jackson said. "I didn't do it for [any] special reason. [I'm] just trying to do something for the community and do something Christlike."
The elementary school visit was Jackson's latest community effort. Earlier this month, the star quarterback participated in the Ravens' annual coat drive.
