Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb's back is improving, and he's hoping for a return soon.

Webb has been sidelined since the second day of training camp with back spasms. Head Coach John Harbaugh said it's possible that Webb could return for the third preseason game against the Washington Redskins on Aug. 23.

"Feeling better," Webb told reporters after watching Monday's practice.

"Just want to make sure I'm right before I hit the field. They know what they're doing. I trust them, I trust this organization, I trust Harbs. They'll get me back whenever it's best for me to come back."

Webb said it's "easy to be patient."

He's unfortunately been in the position of missing a chunk of the preseason before. Webb missed the entire 2010 preseason after coming back from his first ACL tear. He played in just one preseason game last year after coming back from his second.

Webb returned to play in all 16 regular-season games last season and missed just one regular-season game in 2010.

Still, Webb said he would like to get some preseason action.

"I would love to play some preseason," he said. "The other [knee injuries] were harder [to come back from] than a back [injury]. We'll see. I don't know.

"I leave everything to Harbs. We don't really talk injuries. He talks injuries. I'll just tell you all we will be back soon."

With Asa Jackson suffering a minor ankle injury on Sunday, the Ravens had Jimmy Smith and Chykie Brown outside with undrafted rookie cornerback Tramain Jacobs and safeties Terrence Brooks and Darian Stewart also occasionally stepping in at corner.
