Reports: Jesse Minter Hiring Navy Defensive Coordinator and Close Friend

Jesse Minter is reportedly bringing one of his top lieutenants to Baltimore with him, and he doesn't have to travel far.

The Ravens will reportedly hire P.J. Volker as their safeties coach, per The Baltimore Sun’s Brian Wacker.

Volker spent the past three years as Navy's defensive coordinator and is a major reason why the Midshipmen posted back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in their storied program history.

Volker also has a long history with Minter, dating back to their college playing days at the College of Mount St. Joseph (Ohio). The two are still very close friends.

"I love what he's done over there at the Naval Academy, [with] him and [Head] Coach [Brian] Newberry with that defense," Minter said of Volker during his introductory press conference.

The Ravens have a talented safety room led by Kyle Hamilton and Malaki Starks that will be an essential part of Baltimore's anticipated defensive turnaround.
