Ravens Sign Nine Players To Reserve/Future Contracts

The offseason is underway and the Ravens have already started to make moves to build their 90-man roster.

The team signed nine players to reserve/future contracts Monday afternoon.

The list includes quarterbacks Keith Wenning and Bryn Renner, defensive backs Victor Hampton and Quinton Pointer, offensive tackle Marcel Jones, tight ends Allen Reisner and Konrad Reuland, fullback Kiero Small, and defensive end Zach Thompson.

Futures contracts lock up players for the upcoming offseason activities and count against the 90-man roster. Teams don't have to get down to a 53-man active roster until just before the start of each regular season.

Several of the players the Ravens signed Monday spent all or part of season on Baltimore's practice squad. Wenning, a 2014 sixth-round pick, spend the entire year on the practice squad learning under Joe Flacco and Tyrod Taylor.

Renner is a new addition to Baltimore after going undrafted last year. He was initially signed by the Denver Broncos and spent training camp with them before getting cut in late August. He was not on an NFL team last year.

Wenning and Renner provide some depth at quarterback, as Taylor is set to become an unrestricted free agent and the Ravens may have to find a new backup behind Flacco.
