The Caw: Brandon Williams Is A Singer Too

Is there anything rookie Brandon Williams can't do?

The hulking defensive tackle first wowed us by walking on his hands. Then we learned he tossed port-a-potties like a rag doll.

Now he's bragging about his singing. C'mon man.

The Ravens have a tradition of the rookies entertaining the veterans. Last year rookie Justin Tucker amazed everyone by belting out the famous Italian aria, O Sole Mio, as if he were in a grand concert hall.

This year, Williams says he's the team's best singing rookie.

"I don't want to brag but I think I'm up there," he said. "I think I got a little vocal talent."

Williams joked that he was going to try out for "American Idol" but took a pass when the Ravens called. So what did he sing for the team?

"My first thing I sang was R&B … a little '90s R&B," Williams said. "The whole team got into it and started clapping with me. So it made me feel a lot more comfortable singing it. I didn't break out the Country yet; I'm going to save that for another day."

Reporters asked Williams if he would do a little singing for the crowd, but the bashful giant declined. I saw him do a little hip shimmy to rap music during red-zone drills. Let's just say I would have preferred the singing.

Now here's the real excuse for writing this blog. Avid Ravens fans may remember one classic Ravens rookies talent show, which was featured in HBO's Hard Knocks during the 2001 season.
