News & Notes: John Harbaugh Gives Update on Keaton Mitchell's Return

Keaton Mitchell's recovery from knee surgery is "right on schedule," according to Head Coach John Harbaugh.

The speedy second year running back is expected to return at some point this season. A torn ACL suffered in Week 15 of 2023 sidelined Mitchell for the remainder of the year, and he was placed on the PUP list prior to the start of training camp.

The Ravens already lead the NFL in rushing and Mitchell's breakaway speed would add even more firepower to the lineup. As an undrafted rookie who made the initial 53-man roster, Mitchell averaged 8.4 yards per carry and scored two touchdowns, gaining 396 yards in eight games after being activated in Week 6.

Mitchell has not returned to practice, and a more exact date for his possible return will come later in the process.

"It's impossible to put a timetable on it exactly right now," Harbaugh said. "He is right on schedule.

"The schedule was to be back this season. Exactly when that would be – [we're] probably closer to understanding that now. But we couldn't really pin it down yet. He's not close enough yet to really talk about it. But he's doing really well."

Speculation Has Begun About Davante Adams Possibly Joining the Ravens

The Las Vegas Raiders have informed other teams they would "consider" trading star wide receiver Davante Adams for a package that would include a second-round pick and additional compensation, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Schefter reported that the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints are high on Adams' wishlist. However, NBC Sports' Rodney Harrison and other pundits think the Ravens would be a great fit for Adams.

"I think he instantly makes them the best team in the AFC," Harrison said. "You think about getting a big-play receiver like him, with those tight ends, that run game, Lamar Jackson. That move makes them the best team in the NFL – period."

The Ravens got an up-close look at Adams' talent in Week 2, when he had his best game of the season (nine catches, 110 yards, one touchdown) during the Raiders' 26-23 victory. Harbaugh was asked about Adams after Wednesday's practice.

"We don't comment on anybody else's players," Harbaugh said. "We talked about Davante Adams a couple weeks ago (before playing the Raiders). I didn't want to talk about him anymore after that game."

Travis Jones Had 'Fun' Nailing Josh Allen With Big Hit

Travis Jones put one of the NFL's biggest hits of the season on Bills quarterback Josh Allen during Sunday's victory. As Allen was strip-sacked by Kyle Van Noy, Jones got a running start at the quarterback, who didn't see Jones coming until it was too late.

It's not often that the Bills' powerfully-built quarterback is sent flying, and Jones relished the moment.

"That was fun," Jones said. "It was all over Twitter."

Jones said he eased up near the end of the hit and could have delivered a harder blow.

"I wish I could have hit him a little harder," Jones said.

Jones has been playing dominant football this season but is still hunting for his first sack. That's not something he's worried about. Allen barely escaped a potential Jones sack on Sunday.

"The sacks are going to come," Jones said. "I feel like I've been getting back there; I've just been missing them. They're going to come."

Marlon Humphery Looks Forward to Battling Bengals' Receivers

Baltimore's defense has been involved with some epic battles against the Cincinnati Bengals over the years. Week 5 will be a major test for Baltimore's secondary, as the Ravens try to contain quarterback Joe Burrow throwing to star receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

Chase has heated up the past two weeks. He had six catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns against the Washington Commanders in Week 3 and three catches for 85 yards and one touchdown last week versus the Panthers.

"The biggest thing is Joe Burrow and the receivers," Marlon Humphrey said. "You've got to win those matchups. I think the biggest task this week defensively will be our DB's versus their receivers. It's a tough task but that's the biggest thing.

"Joe Burrow is a top quarterback in this league. When he gets going, he's kind of surgical. Whatever you can with different looks, tight coverage – but the biggest this is you've got to win those matchups on the outside.
