Press Release - Baltimore Ravens Provide 2011 Plan In Motion Grants

The Ravens All Community Team Foundation (RACTF) has awarded nearly $100,000 in grants to 19 nonprofit organizations in the Baltimore area. In its fifth year, the Ravens' Plan in Motion project continued to provide grants of up to $5,000 for initiating and/or expanding programs or projects that promote physical fitness and nutrition education among youth.

The 2011 Plan in Motion grant funding will support a variety of programs, such as fitness camps, Special Olympics training, swim classes and after school intramurals, all working to increase physical activity among area youth. Projects that received grants for 2011 include: funding for Bridges Program at St. Paul's School, which offers more than 120 students physical fitness programs during the summer; continued support of the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital's Weigh Smart program, which has doubled the number of classes focused on improving physical fitness and the nutrition habits of overweight and obese children; providing the Coppin Aquatic Center with funds to boost water safety and sports participation among African Americans; supporting Athletes Serving Athletes, which provides opportunities for young athletes with disabilities and at-risk youth to pursue an active lifestyle through athletic competition; and, providing funds to purchase heart rate monitors and new sports equipment for young women at Sisters Academy.

The Ravens All Community Team Foundation is committed to improving, encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in Baltimore and throughout the state of Maryland. Annually, the RACTF provides more than $500,000 in grant funding to local nonprofits. In addition to the Plan in Motion program, other RACTF foundation projects focused on youth include the stadium renovations at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute (2006) and Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School (2008), the Ravens Scholars Program, and KaBoom! playground builds at Collington Square School (2007), the Good Samaritan Hospital Child Development Center (2009) and German Park (2011).
