Press Release: Ravens Agree to Terms with Eugene Monroe

The Baltimore Ravens and LT Eugene Monroehave reached an agreement on a five-year contract, general manager/executive vice president Ozzie Newsome announced Tuesday afternoon.

Newsome, head coach John Harbaugh and Monroe will be available to the media tomorrow (Wednesday, March 12) during a 2:30 p.m. press conference at the Under Armour Performance Center after Monroe signs his new contract.

A five-year NFL veteran, Monroe was selected by Jacksonville in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft (eighth overall) and has started 73 of 76 career games. This past season, he started 15 games at left tackle – four for the Jaguars and the final 11 with the Ravens. Baltimore obtained Monroe from Jacksonville in Week 5 (Oct. 3, 2013) in exchange for two 2014 draft picks.

While in Jacksonville, Monroe helped pave the way for RB Maurice Jones-Drew, who earned three Pro Bowl appearances from 2009-11. In 2011, Jones-Drew led the NFL in rushing (1,606 yards), posting six 100-yard performances on the season.
