Game Recap: Ravens' Defense Dominates in Low-Scoring Win Over Vikings

Q1-1920x1080 (2)

The Ravens' defense turned in another stellar performance on Saturday, defeating the Vikings 13-3 and moving to 2-0 on the preseason.

Baltimore has allowed just 10 points through its first two preseason games. While the offense hasn't exactly popped, they've done just enough to keep the Ravens undefeated heading into their preseason finale.

Turning Point

The game's only touchdown came on an 8-yard pass from quarterback Joe Fagnano to wide receiver LaJohntay Wester with just under six minutes left in the third quarter. There appeared to be a miscommunication in Minnesota's secondary, as Wester was wide open for his first NFL receiving touchdown in either the preseason or regular season.

Top Play

With the Vikings threatening to cut Baltimore's lead to single digits late in the fourth quarter, Ravens safety Silas Walters jumped a route and intercepted Vikings quarterback Max Brosmer. Baltimore's offense then ran out the clock to seal a 13-3 win.

Stats to Know

  • The Ravens' defense had five sacks: Outside linebackers Mike Green and Ethan Burke, defensive lineman Rayshaun Benny, and safety Keondre Jackson had one apiece, while defensive lineman David Olajiga and cornerback Chandler Rivers shared a takedown.
  • On the Vikings' first offensive play of the fourth quarter, Burke stripped Minnesota wideout Jeshaun Jones, and cornerback Amani Oruwariye fell on top of the ball at Minnesota's 44-yard line for the Ravens' first takeaway of the 2026 preseason. Burke also had two passes defensed and two quarterback hits.
  • Fagnano had another efficient outing, completing 15 of 20 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown with no turnovers. In his first two preseason games, Fagnano is 37-of-48 for 327 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.
  • Wester led the Ravens with five receptions. Wide receiver Elijah Sarratt, running back Elijah Tau-Toliver, and tight end Josh Cuevas had three apiece.
  • Both teams couldn't do much in the running game, as the Ravens and Vikings gained 2.6 and 3.6 yards per rush, respectively.
  • The two teams combined to go just 10-of-29 on third down.
  • Both teams were called for nine accepted penalties. Ravens offensive tackle Gerad Lichtenhan was called for holding three times.
