The Ravens have bolstered the roster at safety, signing James Ihedigbo.

"Fresh start...God is good..honored to be a Baltimore Raven!!!! #blackandpurple," he tweeted.

Baltimore was a little light at the position after safety Emmanuel Cook broke his leg and was placed on injured reserve.

Ihedigbo started 12 games for the New England Patriots last year. The 6-foot-1, 214-pounder notched 69 tackles and one pass deflection.

Ihedigbo, 28, was cut by the Patriots on Friday and reportedly visited the Ravens the next day. Prior to his one season in New England, Ihedigbo played for the New York Jets for three seasons, notching 82 tackles and five sacks.

Baltimore named safeties Ed Reed, Bernard Pollard, Sean Considine (concussion) and fourth-round pick Christian Thompson to the active roster. They signed rookie free agent safety Omar Brown to the practice squad.

There is no word of what the corresponding roster move to balance the 53-man roster will be.
