Baltimore Ravens Extend Medical Partnership with MedStar Health for Another Decade

BALTIMORE—The Baltimore Ravens and MedStar Health have extended their long-standing medical partnership, reaffirming a relationship that began in 2004. As the Ravens' trusted medical provider for more than 20 years, MedStar Health will continue delivering world-class care to Ravens players, employees, and fans through 2035.

Behind every game, practice, and offseason workout, MedStar Health physicians, athletic trainers and specialists work year-round to keep the players healthy and performing at their peak. The multi-disciplinary medical team provides primary care, orthopedic care, cardiology, injury prevention, and concussion protocols, on and off the field. Additionally, they evaluate new talent to help shape the future of the Ravens, while MedStar Health physical therapists and athletic trainers help keep veteran players in peak condition.

"Nothing is more important to us than the health and wellness of our players and staff," said Ravens President Sashi Brown. "We are incredibly grateful to have MedStar—a leader in healthcare—as our partner. Over the 21 years of our partnership, MedStar has earned the trust of the entire Ravens organization, including our locker room, by consistently delivering outstanding care and service. MedStar is essential to our operations, providing coordinated, high-quality medical care to our players and staff and supporting medical evaluations at the Scouting Combine. MedStar is a vital part of the Ravens team and a key driver of our success on and off the field. We're excited to extend this partnership and continue working together."

For more than two decades, MedStar Health primary care sports medicine physician, Andrew Tucker, MD, has been the Ravens' head team physician and MedStar Health orthopedic surgeon, Leigh Ann Curl, MD, has been the team's head orthopedist. Both are nationally recognized leaders in sports medicine, and past presidents of the NFL Physicians Society.

Over the years, the Ravens' relationship with MedStar Health has extended far beyond the field, partnering on a variety of community health and philanthropic initiatives. Players, coaches, and team leadership regularly give their time to visit patients, encourage frontline hospital staff, and participate in community wellness programs. The organization has also philanthropically supported MedStar Health's mobile health centers, violence prevention efforts, healthcare workforce development, the neo-natal intensive care units, and most recently, provided a substantial gift to support nursing.

The same expert care trusted by the team is available to patients across the region through MedStar Health's 10 hospitals and hundreds of outpatient sites. MedStar Health also operates first aid stations at M&T Bank Stadium, providing medical care to thousands of fans during home games.

"Our partnership with the Ravens is built on mutual respect, shared values, and a shared purpose: to serve our community with excellence," said Kenneth A. Samet, FACHE, president and CEO, MedStar Health. "We're honored to be the team the Ravens trust, and we're proud to extend that same level of care to every patient we serve. We are just as proud of the time, compassion, and generosity they give to our patients, associates, and communities."

"The trust the Ravens place in us is something we deeply value," said Dr. Tucker. "We see our role not just as clinicians, but as partners in performance, recovery, and long-term health, for both the players and the entire organization."
