Chidobe Awuzie is pushing the limits of what it means to play on a team-friendly deal.
When news broke of Awuzie's return to the Ravens, a tweet from The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec accidentally reported his one-year deal was worth $5 instead of $5 million.
Awuzie jokingly responded on X that it was just enough for a McDonald's Hot 'n Spicy McChicken.
Before signing his actual contract Thursday, Awuzie received the value of his initial reported contract.
Awuzie stopped by "The Lounge" podcast after signing his deal and poked fun at the bit.
"Everybody always says, 'I'll play football for free,' but I'm actually showing it," Awuzie said.
Awuzie returns to the Ravens after having a strong first season in Baltimore. The 30-year-old cornerback played in 14 games, including five starts, broke up seven passes, and notched 43 tackles. Among cornerbacks who played at least 20% of their team's snaps, Awuzie had the 13th-highest Pro Football Focus grade in the league.
