Rookie linebacker Jay Higgins IV is back on the practice field for the Ravens.

The Ravens opened Higgins' 21-day window to return to the active roster Wednesday after he missed the last five games with a knee injury.

Higgins went down with the injury against the Vikings in Week 10 and was then placed on injured reserve. One of three undrafted rookies to make the Ravens' initial 53-man roster, Higgins has six tackles and one forced fumble on special teams this season.

Higgins' return comes at a good time for the Ravens after starting linebacker Teddye Buchanan suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's shutout win over the Bengals. Along with his special teams contributions, Higgins can provide depth behind Roquan Smith, Trenton Simpson, and Jake Hummel.
