Cleveland Browns: Jim Schwartz Could Return as Defensive Coordinator … If He's Willing

Will Jim Schwartz have a change of heart and remain with the Browns as their defensive coordinator?

After the Browns hired new Head Coach Todd Monken, Schwartz was reportedly incensed that he didn't get the job and told co-workers he wasn't coming back.

However, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com reports that Schwartz may return.

According to Cabot, Monken wants Schwartz, who has two years left on his contract, to stay. The Browns can block Schwartz from leaving to become a coordinator for another NFL team. The San Francisco 49ers reportedly hired Raheem Morris as their defensive coordinator on Sunday, but were said to have interest in Schwartz before moving on.

The Browns need clarity on Schwartz's status as Monken continues to build his staff. Schwartz is regarded as one of the league's top coordinators and the Browns were ranked fourth overall defensively in 2025.

Pittsburgh Steelers: Scott Tolzien to Interview for Offensive Coordinator

Scott Tolzien once played quarterback for new Steelers Head Coach Mike McCarthy, and they may be reunited in Pittsburgh. Tolzien will reportedly interview Monday with the Steelers to become their next offensive coordinator.

Tolzien was a backup quarterback in Green Bay when McCarthy was the head coach. In 2025, Tolzien was the New Orleans Saints' quarterbacks coach and received credit for the development of rookie quarterback Tyler Shough.

McCarthy said he will be the play-caller with the Steelers, but he will depend heavily on his offensive coordinator.

"To be honest with you, when you get into the seventh, eighth week of a regular season, coordinating is the hardest job on the coaching staff," McCarthy said via Chris Ward of Yahoo! Sports. "The responsibility of that individual is huge, as far as how you progress as an offense, so when I'm putting together a staff, you're looking at a level of experience, you're looking for the dynamics of youth and experience. And it really, for me, comes down to fit. I'm just trying to fit it all together."

Other pieces of McCarthy's staff are taking shape. Veteran special teams coach Danny Crossman will reportedly take over that role with the Steelers. The 59-year-old Crossman has previously been a coordinator for four different NFL teams.

Crossman will replace longtime Steelers special teams coach Danny Smith, who left Pittsburgh after the season to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Cincinnati Bengals: Chase Brown In Talks Regarding a Contract Extension

Running back Chase Brown is discussing a contract extension with the Bengals after topping 1,000 yards rushing for the first time in his career.

"I would love to do something and be a part of this team," Brown said via Ben Baby of ESPN.com. "I don't want to go anywhere else."

Brown will turn 26 years old in March and has one year remaining on his rookie contract. In addition to his rushing stats, Brown had 437 receiving yards to rank sixth among running backs in 2025. Derrick Henry was the only running back in the AFC North to rush for more yards (1,595) than Brown (1,019).

Starting all 17 games last season, Brown wants to continue being the featured back in an offense led by quarterback Joe Burrow and wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Brown believes he can build off what he did last season.

"Experience always plays [a factor] and just getting more comfortable," Brown said. "The coaches trusted me. More plays being called that are designed to go my way and allowed me to make more plays."
