Joe Flacco Doesn't Feel Same Way As Agent Joe Linta

Joe Flacco's agent, Joe Linta, stirred up news with recent comments about the Ravens organization being "dumb" for not reaching an agreement with the quarterback prior to last season.

In typical Flacco fashion, the cool-headed quarterback downplayed the hubbub.

"Obviously I don't feel that way," Flacco told BaltimoreRavens.com Wednesday afternoon. "I think he probably got a little excited about it."

Linta further explained his comments Tuesday, saying he grew weary of misperceptions about his client being "greedy" for signing a six-year, $120.6 million contract.

"I like Joe's [Linta's] fire, and I like that he's trying to protect me in any way," Flacco said. "But in no way do I have those feelings towards the organization. I thought the whole time there was respect on both sides and there will continue to be."

Pundits have wondered whether Linta's comments could hurt future negotiations between the two sides. They could be back at the negotiating table in three years when Flacco's salary cap number jumps to nearly $29 million.

Flacco said he did not think it would have any effect.

He went on to say that negotiations between his side and the Ravens have always been cordial.

"I think the good thing about the whole process was that when we were negotiating the deal, there was always respect," Flacco said. "I had respect for them with the deal they offered, and I think they respected my decision to not take it. I think throughout the whole process, it's been very good."

Flacco also laughed at the buzz about adding a reported seven pounds of muscle this offseason.

"It's just a normal offseason," he said. "It's crazy."
