The Ravens saw two key players return to the practice field Monday, with safety Kyle Hamilton and running back Keaton Mitchell (hamstring) both suiting up for limited work.

Both players participated in individual drills and went back into the facility during team periods as the Ravens prepare for their final preseason game against the Washington Commanders on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a handful of veterans missed Monday's practice, most of whom are dealing with minor injuries, according to Head Coach John Harbaugh.

Jaire Alexander, who has not practiced since Aug. 9, recently sought treatment for his knee but should be available for the Week 1 game against the Buffalo Bills, Harbaugh said. Fellow cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Jalyn Armour-Davis (illness) and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins are also not expected to miss significant time.

"The DB room right now is dealing with nothing serious in terms of season issues or even for the opener," Harbaugh said. "[Alexander] had something, just kind of take care of that knee. You do some things to kind of help it from a health standpoint. It's something he's been dealing with for a few years now. It's not anything we didn't expect, probably."

Harbaugh also said Hopkins is just going through body management with his knee.

Here are more notes from Monday's practice:

  • Vying for the No. 3 safety spot, Beau Brade was all over the field. The second-year University of Maryland product intercepted Cooper Rush on a pass intended for Malik Cunningham. Brade jumped the route and snagged the ball with Cunningham riding his shoulder. Brade nearly had his second interception when he came crashing down on a short pass to Kieth Kirkwood over the middle. Brade wrapped up his day with a pass breakup on a short crosser to Cunningham in the red zone.
  • Broderick Washington Jr. had a strong practice, showcasing his pursuit by chasing down Zay Flowers to the sideline after Flowers hauled in a short pass. The 6-foot-2, 315-pound defensive lineman also had what would've been a sack on Devin Leary after quickly beating his man.
  • Lamar Jackson delivered a deep ball to Flowers in 11-on-11 drills on a beautifully drawn-up play design that left Flowers wide open down the field.
  • Rush launched a perfect deep pass to wide receiver Jahmal Banks for a touchdown down the sideline.
  • Malaki Starks had a pass breakup on a pass from Leary intended for tight end Zaire Mitchell-Paden.
  • Trenton Simpson's strength came in handy on a pass completed to Charlie Kolar in the flat. Simpson chased down Kolar and wound up with the ball in his hands after ripping it away from Kolar following the catch.
  • Tavius Robinson swatted down a Jackson pass near the line of scrimmage with Jackson backed up in his own end zone. Robinson later got into the backfield untouched on a blitz for a quarterback pressure on Jackson.
  • Undrafted rookie defensive back Reuben Lowery nearly had an interception on a high pass from Rush that sailed over the head of Mitchell-Paden.
  • Kirkwood had a nice day with several tough catches, one of which was a sliding catch near the sideline with cornerback T.J. Tampa tight in coverage.
  • Undrafted rookie cornerback Marquise Robinson was sticky in coverage and had a pass breakup on a throw intended for Xavier Guillory, who ran a curl route.
