50 Words or Less: Ravens Look Forward to Schedule Release and Faster Start

We've been waiting to see the Ravens' 2025 schedule, and we don't have to wait much longer.

The NFL schedule release is set for Wednesday (May 14), at which point we'll start debating where the schedule looks toughest, easiest, etc.

Here are some thoughts on the upcoming schedule release and other Ravens' happenings, all in 50 words or less:

  • The Ravens are thinking about starting fast, no matter who's on their September schedule. Baltimore started 0-2 in 2024. Kyle Hamilton remembers. "We've gone through that and understand how hard it is to climb out of that hole and how we can change that this year," he said at voluntary workouts.
  • Speaking of Hamilton, I'm sure he's excited to welcome first-round pick Malaki Starks to the safety group. The quicker Starks gets up to speed on Baltimore's multiple defensive looks, the more likely the Ravens' secondary will begin the season in sync.
  • The Ravens are 12-5 in Week 1 under Head Coach John Harbaugh. As soon as the schedule is released, the coaching staff will start paying closer attention to the Week 1 opponent. It's months away, but it's the next regular season game.
  • We already know the Ravens’ opponents in 2025. But when will those games at Buffalo, Green Bay, Kansas City, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Pittsburgh take place? More cold weather games than usual could be in store.
  • Will the Ravens be away on Christmas again? If that happens, their opponent should beware. Baltimore dominated the 49ers on Christmas in 2023, then did the same to the Texans in (2024). Hosting the Ravens on Dec. 25 should not be on any opponent's Christmas wish list.
  • A hot topic is whether or not the Ravens should bring back Jadeveon Clowney. I think Clowney can still play, but drafting Mike Green gave the Ravens another piece to their pass rush puzzle. I think Baltimore's pass rush will be strong, with Clowney or without.
  • Clowney doesn't need OTAs, training camp, or preseason action to be ready by Week 1. Kyle Van Noy didn't sign with the Ravens until Week 3 in 2023 and still had a great season. Even if Clowney and the Ravens reunite, it may take some time.
  • Meanwhile, I'm interested to see how outside linebackers Adisa Isaac, David Ojabo and Malik Hamm look at OTAs and training camp. This is a huge year for that trio, vying for a place behind Van Noy, Odafe Oweh, Tavius Robinson, and Green.
  • Cooper Rush was signed to be Lamar Jackson's backup, but Baltimore not drafting a quarterback was good news for No. 3 quarterback Devin Leary. He should have more time to develop working with Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken and Quarterbacks Coach Tee Martin.
  • The Ravens may sign a run-stopping veteran defensive tackle at some point. But it's not easy to find holes in the Ravens' roster, and that bodes well for the 2025 season, no matter how the schedule unfolds on Wednesday.
