The Ravens are about to see how their offense operates without Lamar Jackson, as the Ravens' two-time MVP has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Houston Texans.
Jackson didn't practice this week after suffering a hamstring injury in the Ravens' loss in Kansas City on Sunday. Cooper Rush is in line to start his 15th game in nine NFL seasons.
It will be Jackson's first missed game due to injury since 2022, when he suffered a sprained MCL (knee). Jackson missed the Ravens' final five regular-season games that season and their playoff loss in Cincinnati.
While losing Jackson stings, the Ravens have expressed confidence in Rush's ability to operate the offense at a high level. Rush is 9-5 as a starter over his career and the Ravens signed him to be Jackson's backup for exactly this scenario.
"Obviously, as athletic as 'Coop' is, some of those things are not going to look the same as Lamar," Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken said this week. "But that doesn't mean you can't still be effective and efficient."
