At long last, Lamar Jackson will start the season in the Madden 99 club.
EA Sports, the makers of the 'Madden NFL 26' video game, included Jackson among those in the exclusive club. It's Jackson's first time gaining admission to the club from the jump, and he was rewarded with a glitzy 99 Club necklace.
Jackson, who graced the game's Madden 21 cover, began last season with a 98 overall rating before being bumped up midway through a historic season.
"Aye, this is crazy," Jackson said, looking at the 99 chain. "I appreciate you guys. Shoutout to Madden for putting me in the 99 club again. Let's get ready for this season."
There are only seven members of the 99 Club at the start of the 2025 season. Joining Jackson are Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson, Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, Bills quarterback Josh Allen, and Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
Players' ratings are adjusted throughout the season, so we'll see if running back Derrick Henry or other Ravens are bumped up to the highest pedestal.
